The No. 1 show last week in New York City, the nation’s largest TV market, was not carried by any of the Big 4 television networks. It was the season premiere of MTV’s Jersey Shore. It was also the top-rated regular series for the month of July in the New York market, outranked only by Major League Baseball’s All-Star Game on Fox and LeBron James’s “Decision” telecast on ESPN. Of course, it probably helped a bit that the most populous areas of New Jersey are considered part of the New York City market. The second most-watched program in New York last week was CBS’s Sixty Minutes, followed by a Yankees-Indians baseball telecast.
