Overseas, Inception continued to catch the imagination of moviegoers as it piled up an estimated $46.6 million in 58 countries to bring its foreign total to $250 million. In second place was Toy Story 3, which brought in another $29.4 million in 49 countries, putting its foreign gross to just under $500 million. In third place was Salt, which drew $16.9 million from 39 markets to bring its overseas tally to $62.8 million. Meanwhile, Reuters observed today (Monday) that the foreign box office is booming this year with ticket sales for U.S. films totaling $7.9 billion, up 32 percent from a year ago. Largely spurred by the performance of Avatar, 20th Century Fox leads all other studios with $2.2 billion in gross overseas revenue.
