LENGTHENED AVATAR: SOMETHING NEW EVERY 15 MINUTES

The additional nine minutes of footage that will be included in Friday’s re-release of Avatar when it hits theaters on Friday will be spread fairly evenly throughout the movie, Avatar producer Jon Landau has told the Hollywood Reporter. “The scenes don’t just feel like added scenes — they are very organic to the story and embellish it.” Added Fox distribution chief Bruce Snyder: “About every 15 minutes you’ll get something new that you haven’t seen before, which is kind of cool.” THR reported that the movie will be screened in only about 800 theaters, including 125 IMAX venues. It said that the studio expects revenue “somewhere in the mid- to high-single-digit millions this weekend.”
