MORGAN CONCEDES HE’S TALKING TO CNN

For the first time, America’s Got Talent judge Piers Morgan has confirmed that he is in talks with CNN “for a primetime position.” It has been widely reported that Morgan is in line to succeed Larry King when King steps down in the fall. Buttonholed by New York Times TV reporter Brian Stelter at the Emmy Awards show in Los Angeles Sunday night, Morgan, who has repeatedly sidestepped questions about the deal, said that negotiations with CNN “are nearly at an end. … We hope to have an announcement soon.” He indicated that negotiations had become complicated because of his America’s Got Talent deal with NBC. Morgan also denied a recent New York Post report that claimed that he has had difficulty obtaining a U.S. visa that would allow him to work full-time in the U.S. He called the report “complete fiction.”
