MOVIE REVIEWS: VAMPIRES SUCK

The critics verdict of Vampires Suck, a spoof of the Twilight movies: it sucks. “Painfully unfunny,” is the way Jen Chaney describes it in the Washington Post. A “limp lampoon,” comments Jeannette Catsoulis in the New York Times. Bruce DeMara in the Toronto Star calls it “drearily pointless.” And Joe Leydon in Daily Variety remarks: “This instantly forgettable trifle is fairly close to worthless.” But Peter Hartlaub in the San Francisco Chronicle says that the movie has one good thing going for it: “The running time is a merciful 80 minutes. That’s the one reliably great thing about reviewing bad movies: Almost all of the biggest losers are less than an hour and a half long.” And Michael Ordoña in the Los Angeles Times actually has some positive words for the movie (he appears to be the only one), writing that it’s “the usual mixed bag of hits and misses, but with more hits than expected.”
