After climbing by only 400,000 during the 2009-2010 season, the number of television households in the U.S. is due to climb by 1 million in 2010-2011 season, Nielsen Media Research predicted today (Friday). Nielsen said that the actual number of viewers will climb by 2 million to 294.65 million. Household and viewer numbers in most cases determine the commercial prices charged to advertisers. Nielsen also said that the rankings of the top ten U.S. markets remained unchanged. They are: 1. New York; 2. Los Angeles; 3. Chicago; 4. Philadelphia; 5. Dallas-Fort Worth; 6. San Francisco-Oakland-San Jose; 7. Boston; 8. Atlanta; 9. Washington D.C.; 10. Houston.
