If any of the iconic rock figures of the 1960s had initially been required to run the gauntlet of judges on a TV talent show in their day, they would have failed, veteran rocker Alice Cooper suggested on a British talk show. Appearing on ITV’s This Morning, Cooper said, “If Bob Dylan ever showed up on American Idol he would never get past the first stage because he’s too unique.” Same goes for the Rolling Stones. “They [the judges] are looking for the perfect little package, so Mick Jagger would never make it. You go through all the big stars, none of them would ever make it.” Cooper proposed that there ought to be a show devoted to finding unique rock bands. He even proposed a title for it: The XXX Factor.
