CBS WINS FIRST WEEK OF SEASON

CBS once again returned to the top of the heap for the first week of the broadcast season as it averaged a 7.7 rating and a 13 share, representing 8.89 million viewers. Although ABC sported the highest-rated show, Dancing with the Stars, it was far behind in total numbers, finishing with a 6.1 rating and a 10 share (7.08 million viewers.) NBC’s numbers were up as it drew a 5.2/9 (6 million viewers vs. 5.6 million a year ago), while Fox trailed with a 3.8/6 (4.4 million, down from 5 million a year ago.) Among the nightly newscasts, NBC remained in the lead, as NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams drew 7.8 million viewers. ABC World News with Diane Sawyer placed second with 7 million viewers, while the CBS Evening News with Katie Couric continued to trail with 5.2 million viewers.

NCIS: Los Angeles, CBS, 9.7/15; 6. The Mentalist, CBS, 9.6/17; 7. 60 Minutes, CBS, 9.0/15; 7. Grey’s Anatomy, ABC, 9.0/14; 7. CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, CBS, 9.0/14; 10. Two and a Half Men, CBS, 8.9/13; 10. Hawaii Five-0, CBS, 8.9/15.
