DreamWorks Animation, which has experienced declining sales of DVDs for its Shrek franchise, is hoping to give it a boost by combining all four Shrek features into a DVD and Blu-ray gift set, Shrek: The Whole Story, and releasing it in time for the holiday season on Dec. 7. Paramount Home Entertainment, which distributes the DreamWorks Animation titles, is also releasing the latest Shrek sequel, Shrek Forever After separately on the same day. Home Media magazine reports that the four-disc set will include “hours” of extras, including a feature called “Donkey’s Christmas Shrektacular” that will only be available during the holiday period. A blurb by the studio says that it “features all your favorite characters as they perform classic holiday songs with Shrek-ized lyrics, as well as ‘Shrek’s Yule Log,’ featuring over 25 uproarious character appearances in front of a crackling virtual fireplace.”
