The website observed that Douglas himself feels that his Gordon Gekko character in the sequel amounts to a supporting role. The studio’s move would also avoid a Douglas-vs-Douglas contest, since Anchor Bay is campaigning to have Douglas considered in the best actor race for Solitary Man.
