NETFLIX MAY TEST CHEAP STREAMING-ONLY SERVICE

Netflix is planning to test a streaming-only service for which subscribers would pay only $7.99 per month, the website HackingNetflix.com reported on Friday, citing a reliable source. Asked by Home Media magazine about the report, Netflix spokesman Steve Swasey on Monday declined to confirm whether such testing is being planned, but added: “We’re always testing consumer sentiment for everything related to Netflix, whether it is pricing, website design, content or devices.” Many analysts have indicated that it is unlikely that the streaming service will attract many subscribers unless more new films are made available.
