The co-host of a popular British TV talk show has quit after it was revealed that he had engaged in “sexting” at least 12 female fans on his Twitter account and engaging in inappropriate video chats with them via Skype.

Jason Manford (The Sun)

Comedian Jason Manford, who landed the hosting job on the BBC’s The One Show last August, issued a terse statement, saying: “I have decided after careful consideration to stand back from The One Show to concentrate on my family.” He later told The Sun newspaper: “There were ten or 12 people flirting and then with a few it went over the line. … They were the moments I thought, ‘I shouldn’t be saying that’. It was just nice to have some interaction I suppose. But the next morning I would wake up and think, ‘F***. Oh my God’. I don’t drink or do drugs, so it’s not like I’ve those to blame — just my own stupidity. … It’s such a weird world online. People throw themselves at you.” The BBC did not issue an official statement concerning Manford’s resignation, telling The Sun: “We have got nothing to say except that we accept Jason’s decision.”
