Another dispute over retransmission consent fees is going down to the wire as Sinclair Broadcast Group, which owns 58 stations in 35 markets across the country, is threatening to yank those stations from Time Warner Cable at midnight on Friday unless Time Warner Cable agrees to pay it an additional 10 cents per customer per month. Sinclair has accused the cable company of refusing to negotiate or provide a counter proposal. Time Warner Cable, however, insisted that it remains “open and willing to negotiate a reasonable agreement.” Sinclair executive Barry Faber, noting that other cable companies had agreed to a similar increase, commented, “We simply do not understand why Time Warner insists on being treated better than its competition.”
