One of Germany’s longest-running TV shows, Wetten das (Bet It) was halted Saturday after a contestant on the game show was severely injured in a stunt gone wrong. In the stunt, Samuel Koch, wearing shoes attached to metal slats that allow him to spring forward swiftly and jump great heights, was supposed to jump over a moving car driven by his father. Instead he collided with it. Video of the incident, which was broadcast live, was quickly posted on YouTube and has now been viewed more than three million times. (Update: The video has been removed at the request of the copyright owner.) Reports say that Koch, who suffered multiple spinal fractures, is in extremely critical condition. The accident took place shortly before 16-year-old singer Justin Bieber was to appear on the show. On Twitter, Bieber apologized to his German fans for not being able to go on and urged them to “pray for Samuel Koch & his family as we wait and hope for his health and safety.”
