NBC WRITERS SIDE WITH WGA ON COMCAST TAKEOVER

December 9, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

The NBC-Comcast merger has been hit with labor unrest even before the merger is approved by regulators. On Monday, a group of NBC writers announced their support of efforts by the Writers Guild of America to unionize writers working on 10 shows produced by Comcast Entertainment Group, saying that they “should have what we have.” The letter by the NBC writers noted that if the merger is approved the writers working for CEG and those working for NBC would in effect be employees of the same company, and it cited testimony by Comcast chief Brian Roberts at a Congressional hearing on the merger in which he promised “to continue the good relations with the guilds and with the unions that NBC Universal has.”
