With Warner Home Video’s The Blind Side being offered for $3.99 in Best Buy’s Black Friday ads last week, the title became the second-highest seller of the week, Disney’s Toy Story 3 on the Nielsen VideoScan First Alert sales chart. The DVD was originally released last March. (Wal-Mart was offering similar deals, including The Dark Knight and Ice Age on Blu-ray Disc for $5.00, but Wal-Mart does not report video sales.) Because of the Black Friday deals, The Hangover, released a year ago, returned to the best-seller list at No. 4, and Marley and Me, originally released on DVD in March of last year, came in at No. 5. Meanwhile, Lionsgate’s The Expendables wrestled with the low-priced catalog competitors and came out on top, or at any rate, in second place, just behind Toy Story 3. It was also No. 1 on Home Media magazine’s rental chart.
