ZUCKER: WHY NBC TANKED

December 9, 2010 by · Leave a Comment

In a mea culpa that spread the culpa around to the executives he had hired, lame-duck NBC Universal CEO Jeff Zucker told the UBS Global Media and Communications Conference in New York Wednesday that he regretted being unable to revive the fortunes of the once dominant NBC television network. As reported by today’s (Thursday) New York Post, Zucker said during an interview at the conference, “Obviously it was my responsibility and I didn’t get that right. … I didn’t find the right people, find the right shows, and that was my responsibility. I never got the team right, until recently.” (The Post observed that some industry commentators wonder whether, given NBC’s current struggles, even recent members of Zucker’s team have demonstrated any greater talent for picking hit shows than their predecessors.)
