SEEN ANY BANNED SUPER BOWL COMMERCIALS RECENTLY?

The annual spate of reports that commercials from various companies have been “banned” from the Super Bowl telecast has begun to roll out. The Hollywood Reporter said that one of the rejected ads was one from a “conservative comedy site,” JesusHatesObama.com that features bobblehead dolls that resemble Jesus and President Obama, which ends with Obama falling into a fish bowl. (It posted the video.) The trade publication also reported that a commercial for AshleyMadison.com, an online dating service, was banned because it features porn star Savanna Samson. YouTube posted yet another “banned” spot — this time the alleged offender was Trojan condoms. On Tuesday Advertising Age vowed that it would not refer to any of these banned commercials on its pages. Under the headline “Your Ad Got ‘Banned’ From Super Bowl? We Don’t Care,” the trade magazine wrote, “It’s an annual tradition that companies — who likely don’t even have the money to spend on an actual Super Bowl spot, find willing suckers in the media who give them some free PR. Not going to happen here.”
