Comedy Central’s The Daily Show and The Colbert Report may soon be restored on Hulu, the video website owned by News Corp. (Fox), General Electric (NBC Universal), Disney (ABC), and Providence Equity Partners, the New York Times reported today (Monday). Comedy Central, which is owned by Viacom, a company that has taken a tough stance vis-a-vis online video sites (it’s pursuing a $1-billion damage suit against YouTube), yanked the hit late-night shows from Hulu last March in a dispute over upfront payments. It was unclear from the Times report whether the shows would be made available online via the ad-supported Hulu free service or whether they would become part of the new Hulu Plus subscription service.
