ANOTHER REPORTER BEATEN DURING PROTEST

ABC News correspondent Miguel Marquez has become the latest reporter to be attacked during the upheaval in the Middle East. Marquez said that he was beaten by a billy-club-bearing military squad as he covered a demonstration in Manama, Bahrain on Wednesday. Marquez was speaking by phone to ABC News in New York when the attack occurred and could be heard yelling, “No, no, no. Hey, I’m a journalist here! … I’m going, I’m going, I’m going, I’m going.” A moment later, he said. “I’m hit. I just got beat rather badly by a gang of thugs.” It was later reported that two people were killed during the Bahrain military’s crackdown on the demonstrators.
