BEST SONG SNUB KILLS PLANNED GAG AT OSCARS

February 2, 2011 by · 1 Comment

Producers of the Oscars show apparently felt so confident that Diane Warren’s Burlesque song “You Haven’t Seen the Last of Me” would be nominated (it was the winner of the Golden Globe Award for best original song) that they had already planned a comedy bit about it. Oscar gag writer Bruce Vilanch told New York magazine’s Vulture website. “We had a great bit where James Franco [who is cohosting the ceremony] was going to come on as Cher and be interrupted by [the real] Cher. … But the song wasn’t nominated, and so she’s not coming.” Last week Cher tweeted that the song’s being passed over for a nomination “sucks,” adding, “It’s hard to understand how u win the Golden Globe 4 BEST SONG & not even get nominated by the OSCARS? Oh well it is what it is …. the sun is still shining!”
