BAMBI IS NO. 1 AGAIN

Nearly 70 years after it first appeared in theaters, Walt Disney’s Bambi debuted at the top of the DVD and Blue-ray disc charts this week. The two-disc package, which has an SRP of $39.99 but is heavily discounted at many outlets, includes the standard-definition and high-definition version in the same combo package. The “Diamond Edition” of the 1942 animated feature received a brand-new makeover, Disney said, and it includes two never-before-seen deleted scenes, a deleted song, an “immersive” video game, and other bonus features. Meanwhile, last week’s top seller, DreamWorks Animation’s Megamind, slipped to second place and was followed by the DVD debut of Burlesque, starring Cher and Christina Aguilera. On Home Media magazine’s rental chart, Sony’s Faster, which grossed only $23.24 during its theatrical release, wound up in first place, followed by Megamind and Summit Entertainment’s RED.
