RIO CLAWS ITS WAY TO THE TOP OVERSEAS, TOO

Overseas, Rio continued to soar. In its second week (Fox held it back a week domestically to take advantage of the beginning of Spring Break) the filmed earned $53.9 million in 62 countries, raising its foreign gross to $129.1 million. (How has it done in Brazil? The film earned $7.46 million from 997 theaters ($7,482 per theater) during its second weekend, to bring its total in the country to $18.9 million.) In second place overseas was Scream 4, which opened in 30 countries with $18 million. It opened in first place in the U.K. with $3.5 million in 410 theaters.
