TIME WARNER CABLE DROPS CHANNELS FROM IPAD APP

Time Warner Cable has apparently concluded that it’s not worth the time and legal expense to fight the cable networks who do not want their content streamed into the homes of subscribers who own Apple’s iPad tablet device — unless they’re paid for it. The cable company said Thursday that it was dropping such popular channels as Viacom’s MTV and Comedy Central, News Corp’s FX, and Discovery’s Animal Planet and Discovery Channel. The cable company acted after it received cease-and-desist demands from Viacom and Discovery as well as Fox TV, and Scripps Networks Interactive.
