AMY WINEHOUSE FOUND DEAD

July 23, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

Hours after her manager announced that she was canceling all scheduled performances because of health reasons, British singer Amy Winehouse was found dead at her home in London, according to published reports. Earlier in the day, manager Tom Gatt said, “Everyone involved wishes to do everything they can to help her return to her best and she will be given as long as it takes for this to happen.” It was not the first time that the 27-year-old singer had canceled performances. A frequent tabloid subject in both the U.S. and the U.K. because of her struggles with drugs, Winehouse was a no-show at the MTV Video Awards in 2007 despite the fact that she was nominated in four categories. The same year her single “Rehab” was named the top song of the year by Time magazine and the following year she received five Grammy awards, including Record of the Year and Song of the Year.

UPDATE: As of Sunday evening, Scotland Yard was still listing the cause of death as “unexplained.”
