CNN LIVE COMING TO YOUR PHONE

July 19, 2011 by · Leave a Comment

CNN announced on Monday that certain cable subscribers will be able to watch the news channel and its sibling HLN on their computers, iPads and smartphones live if they already are customers of one of five cable and satellite services. Although the two channels are owned by Turner Broadcasting, a division of Time Warner, the company’s spun-off cable service, Time Warner Cable, is not one of the companies that will offer the live programming on mobile devices. Those that will include AT&T, Comcast, Cox, DISH Network, Suddenlink and Verizon. The move steps up the competition with the online sites of the two other major cable news channels, Fox News and MSNBC. MSNBC.com leads the pack online, but it has tended to present a totally different personality from its cable sibling and is unlikely to simulcast its programs.
