NETFLIX NOT INTERESTED IN BUYING HULU

Although top executives of Hulu have confirmed that they’re looking for a buyer and that several media companies have expressed interest, Netflix, the media company that would appear to be a logical bidder, has expressed no interest thus far, the Wall Street Journal reported today (Monday). The newspaper said that the potential suitors for Hulu are Amazon, Google, Yahoo!, Microsoft, and DirecTV. The Journal noted that Netflix, the top site for long-form videos including movies and TV shows, is not being wooed by Hulu’s owners either. The newspaper noted that those owners, which include the parent companies of Disney/ABC/ESPN/NBC Universal, and 20th Century Fox, aren’t much interested in selling to Netflix, because many of them already have a relationship with Netflix, so a sale would reduce the number of potential distributors for their content.
