HULU TO RISE IN JAPAN

September 2, 2011 by · 1 Comment

The owners of Hulu may be looking around for someone to buy the video website, which carries shows from ABC, NBC, and Fox as well as an assortment of shows produced by other units of the networks’ parent companies, but that doesn’t mean that it isn’t looking for other ways to grow their business in the meantime. On Thursday it announced that it is expanding into Japan — with a pay service only. (Domestically, it’s offered as both a free and a pay service.) The Los Angeles Times reported today (Friday) that in Japan, Hulu will include content from CBS, the only major broadcast network that does not own a stake in the video website or provide programs to it.
