Turner Broadcasting has launched a new ad campaign to explain to viewers how they can watch most of the programs carried by its cable-TV networks on their smartphones, tablets, laptops or desktops any day of the week at any time. The programs are available free to anyone who can show that they have a cable-TV or satellite subscription (about 90 percent of U.S. viewers). “Consumers have bought tens of millions of iPhones and iPads,” Turner Networks president Steve Koonin told today’s (Monday) New York Times. “Our vision is that TV Everywhere kind of becomes the consumer-enabling technology that allows them to unlock the potential of those devices.” The problem, he suggested, is that many viewers do not know how to stream programs to their iPhones or iPads. The ad campaign includes a longer spot to be carried by YouTube that gives detailed instructions on how to download apps and access programs.
