Despite competition from the World Series, Sunday Night Football, and Dancing with the Stars, CBS’s NCIS, hung on to first place in the Nielsen ratings for the second week in a row last week and looks likely to repeat for a third time when Nielsen publishes its results for the current week (see separate item). However, thanks in large part to its coverage of the World Series, Fox won the week with an average of a 7.2 household rating and a 12 share, beating out CBS, the usual winner, which came in with a 6.9/11. ABC placed third with a 5.6/9, while NBC trailed with a 3.4/6.

The top ten shows of the week according to Nielsen Research:

1. NCIS, CBS, 11.9/18; 2. Dancing with the Stars (Monday), ABC, 11.6/17; 3. NCIS: Los Angeles, CBS, 9.3/14; 4. World Series Game 4, Fox, 9.2/14; 5. Dancing with the Stars (Tuesday), ABC, 9.1., 14; 5.
