UPDATE: NPR OPERA HOST WILL NOT LOSE HER JOB

Lisa Simeone will not lose her job as the host of NPR World of Opera for acting as spokeswoman for the Washington DC anti-Wall Street protesters, her employer, WDAV, located in Davidson, NC, near Charlotte, said on Thursday. “Ms. Simeone’s activities outside of this job are not in violation of any of WDAV’s employee codes and have had no effect on her job performance at WDAV,” the station said in a statement. However, reports indicated that NPR is weighing whether to continue airing the program. Its own statement appeared somewhat ambiguous. It said only, “We fully respect that the management of WDAV is solely responsible for the decision making around Lisa’s participation in Occupy DC and her freelance role with WDAV’s program.”
