Although final ratings figures are not yet available, it would appear from early results that the first two games of this year’s World Series attracted about the same number of viewers that the first two games of last year’s did — about 13 million. On each night the game was No. 1 in the ratings during primetime except for a single half hour. On Wednesday it was edged out by ABC’s Modern Family and on Thursday by CBS’s The Big Bang Theory. NBC didn’t even attempt to compete, airing repeats of its comedy lineup and drama Prime Suspect that put it behind even the lowly CW in viewers over half the night. The website TVMediaInsights.com said that the network, which once dominated Thursday nights with its “Must See TV” programs, may have seen one of its worst Thursdays ever.
