COURIC SHOW COMMANDING HEFTY AD PRICES

Katie Couric

Katie Couric’s syndicated talk show isn’t even on the air yet. She flopped in her most recent gig as a network news anchor. She could suffer the same fate as befell another Today show co-host, Jane Pauley, when she attempted to go solo on daytime television. But the New York Post reported today (Thursday) that the asking price for a spot on the new show is $50,000. That’s more than Ellen ($35,000) or Live with Regis and Kelly ($40,000). According to the newspaper, Disney-ABC Domestic TV, which is syndicating Couric’s show, is telling prospective buyers that they expect Katie to “fill the void” left by Oprah Winfrey. At the end of her run, Winfrey was commanding $100,000 per 30-second spot.
