CBS ROLLING OUT A NEW MORNING SHOW

CBS, which has overhauled its morning news/talk show more often than any other network, is doing it again. It won’t be called The Early Show any longer. What it will be called, it indicated, is still undecided. And judging from the changes that it announced on Tuesday, it could become two separate programs. The first hour will be hosted by Charlie Rose, the PBS interviewer, with Erica Hill — a survivor of The Early Show — joining him. The second hour will be hosted by Gayle King, who is leaving BFF Oprah’s OWN cable network. Introducing the new hosts, CBS News chief Jeff Fager indicated that the new show will be driven by harder news than the competitions’, which often tend to be light and frothy. :”It will be hard news — it will be real news — but it’s not going to be all serious,” he said. Rose said that he will continue to host his PBS interview show as well as contributing to CBS’s 60 Minutes. “I will be able now to pain on tow canvases,” he said.
