KUTCHER REPLACING SHEEN IN TABLOIDS, TOO
Not only has Ashton Kutcher replaced Charlie Sheen on CBS’s Two and a Half Men, he now appears to be getting Sheen-like coverage in the tabloids and Internet gossip sites. On Thursday, about three weeks after a woman claimed that she had sex with Kutcher, Demi Moore announced that she was divorcing him. “There are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life.” One British newspaper headlined her announcement on its front page. Only last week, Kutcher was pounded by critics when he came to the support of Penn State coach Joe Paterno. The actor, who has more followers on Twitter than any other actor — 8 million — tweeted “How do you fire Jo Pa? As a Hawkeye fan, I find it in poor taste.” Many of Kutcher’s fans also found his statement to be in poor taste, and let him know about it. Kutcher later admitted that he did not know at the time why Paterno was being let go and said he thought it had to do with his performance. “I could not be more remorseful,” he tweeted. On Thursday, CBS chief Les Moonves, at a Hollywood Radio and Television Society meeting in Los Angeles, was asked about the continued strong ratings for Two and a Half Men. He said that he was pleased with the new star “aside from his comments about Penn State.” As for the Sheen contretemps, Moonves said, “It was unfortunate. … I’m glad that is a chapter that is closed.”
