Overseas, The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 1 remained the No. 1 film as it collected about $40.2 million in 73 countries, to bring its foreign total to $341 million and its worldwide total to $588.3 million. Puss in Boots came in second, earning an estimated $23 million in 26 countries. It had plenty of family-film company. The No. 3 film was Happy Feet Two, which took in $16.3 million in 40 countries. No. 4 was Arthur Christmas, with $11.4 million from 52 countries. And No. 5 was The Adventures of Tintin, with $10.6 million. Three weeks ahead of its U.S. opening, the Steven Spielberg 3D performance capture film has banked $221.6 million. (Also a biopic of a legendary Russian pop singer, Vysotsky: Thank God I’m Alive, premiered in Russia with about $11.4 million, one of the highest openings ever for a Russian film.
