ITALIAN DIRECTOR MORETTI TO PRESIDE OVER CANNES JURY

Lauding his “corrosive wit,” the Cannes Film Festival announced late Thursday that Italian director Nanni Moretti had been selected to head the jury at this year’s festival. In a statement, festival chief Thierry Frémaux, who holds the title “general delegate,” said, “The Festival wanted to celebrate its 65th season with a European jury President. High-spirited and marked by his modernity and intelligence, Nanni Moretti’s films are the incarnation of all the best in cinema over the past thirty years.”
