MURDOCH KEPT OUT OF THE LOOP OVER ARRESTS AT SUN (Updated)

January 31, 2012 by · Leave a Comment

Rupert Murdoch has still made no mention in his almost daily tweets about the surprise early-morning arrests on Saturday of four journalists, including two senior editors, working for his London daily, The Sun — and today’s (Tuesday) Guardian newspaper suspects it knows why he has remained silent: Neither Murdoch and his son James, nor News International chief Tom Mockridge and Sun editor Dominic Mohan were ever informed that News Corp’s own Management & Standards Committee, which is conducting an internal investigatiion of possible misconduct by the company’s journalists, had turned over incriminating evidence about the journalists to Scotland Yard. Late today (Tuesday) Murdoch did Tweet that a report in the Financial Times that plans to launch a Sunday edition of The Sun had been put on hold because of the arrest was 100 percent wrong. The F.T., he said, should stand for Fawlty Towers.
