What was likely a misplaced phrase, dangling in the middle of a comment by a CNN reporter covering Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, has aroused the anger of his supporters, who have demanded that she be removed from further campaign coverage. In a chat from New Hampshire with CNN anchor John King (to whom she is married), CNN reporter Dana Bash remarked, “I’m sure you talk to Republicans who are worried as well, just like I am, that Ron Paul will continue on long into the spring and summer.” That phrase, “just like I am,” drew immediate fire from Revolution PAC, which supports Paul and which charged that it revealed a disturbing bias against its candidate. But in a statement, CNN maintained that the phrase was meant to suggest that both she and King had heard from Republicans about Paul. “The notion that Dana is anything but objective is preposterous,” the CNN statement said. “Dana’s report should be fully reviewed in the context in which she meant it — to reference John’s sources and her sources, not her own opinion.”
