As was widely predicted, several television broadcasters in New York have filed suit in federal court in New York in an effort to block the Aereo streaming TV service from launching on March 14. The service, headed by Barry Diller, uses tiny antennas to send live broadcast content to subscribers’ mobile devices. However, in their lawsuit, the broadcasters contend that it makes no difference whether Aero uses one or thousands of antennas to retransmit their programming, it is violating copyright law. The National Association of Broadcasters has issued a statement supporting the New York broadcasters.
