ROSIE: CANCELLATION WAS “FAIR”

Rosie O’Donnell has posted a video on YouTube responding to fans who have protested that it was unfair for her talk show on OWN, the Oprah Winfrey Network, to have been canceled after only five months. “It was fair,” she says on the video, which was recorded on the Chicago set of The Rosie Show. “Listen, Oprah gave me an amazing shot at doing this. She really did. She put me back on TV. She believed in me. I didn’t even know if I could do it again.” O’Donnell goes on to say that she started off on the wrong foot, trying to fall back on what had worked for her when she launched her syndicated talk show in 1996, “but it wasn’t really that easy. We sort of started off the wrong way. We were kind of trying to do a little bit of what we had done 15 years ago, and you can’t do it.” O’Donnell taped her final episode for OWN on Tuesday. It is scheduled to air on March 30.
