Suggesting that size really does matter, a new study by comScore has revealed that 53 percent of iPad and other tablet users watch video or TV shows on their device at least once a month versus 20 percent of smartphone users. In addition, 19.9 percent of the tablet users said that they watched video content at least once a week, versus 6.7 percent of smartphone users, and 9.5 percent of the tablet users said they watch video nearly every day versus 2.9 percent of the smartphone users. Of the tablet viewers, 26.7 percent paid for at least some of the programs. “Tablets are one of the most rapidly adopted consumer technologies in history and are poised to fundamentally disrupt the way people engage with the digital world both on-the-go and perhaps most notably, in the home,” comScore senior vice president of mobile Mark Donovan said in a statement. “It’s not surprising to see that once consumers get their hands on their first tablet, they are using them for any number of media habits including TV viewing.”
