The Dark Knight Risestook in an additional $88 million in a limited number of overseas markets. The final installment of Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy had its strongest debut in the U.K., where it raked in $22.4 million, putting ahead of The Amazing Spider-Man’s opening ($17.2 million) but slightly behind The Avengers (released in the U.K. under the title Marvel Avengers Assemble), which set a record of $24.5 million. And — talk about owning the box office — the No. 2 film in the U.K., Fox’s Ice Age: Continental Drift was furlongs behind in the race with $3.3 million. The Amazing Spider-Man, in its third week, was hardly in the running with just $1.6 million to place third.
