NOLAN’S FIRST TWO BATMAN MOVIES RETURN TO VIDEO CHARTS

Moviegoers who were planning on taking in The Dark Knight Rises, the finale of director Christopher Nolan’s Batman trilogy, apparently decided to take a refresher course on Nolan’s earlier Batman movies, making them the top two sellers on the Blu-ray Disc Chart and Nos. 2 and 3 on the DVD chart, according to Nielsen VideoScan First Alert, which tracks home video sales. Curiously they were no where to be found on Home Media magazine’s rental chart, despite the fact that both films were released years ago and therefore not subject to the 28-day delay that many new releases face. Coming in third on the Blu-ray chart — but first on the DVD — was Fox’s The Three Stooges. Sony’s Lockout captured fourth place on Home Media magazine’s, while Fox’s Get the Gringo rounded out the top 5. Studios do not disclose actual sales figures of home video, largely because some major retailers refuse to report them.
