WARNER TO RESHOOT PARTS OF GANGSTER SQUAD”

July 25, 2012 by · 2 Comments

Warner Bros. reportedly plans to remove a scene in its upcoming Gangster Squad in which a gang of thugs begins firing from behind a movie screen into the Grauman’s Chinese Theater in Hollywood. It will be replaced by a similar scene shot at a different setting, according to reports. The decision was prompted by last weekend’s theater shooting in Aurora, CO in which 12 persons were killed. Today’s (Wednesday) Hollywood Reporter also indicated that the reshoot will force the studio to postpone the Sept. 7 release date of the movie. It said the studio has tentatively decided to release it on Jan. 11, a date that will depend on its ability to reassemble the cast for the reshoot and their availability to promote the film in January.

UPDATE: Warner Bros. confirmed late Wednesday that it will release Gangster Squad on Jan. 11.
