Advance first-day ticket sales for Summit Entertainment’s The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn — Part 2 totaled $1.17 million, nearly twice the $626,000 that Part 1 racked up last year. Nikki Finke, on her Deadline.com website, who was the first to report on the advance tally, said that over a quarter of the sales were for tickets to the Twilight marathon screening a day before the official release of the new film on November 16th. Last February, Summit’s new owner Lionsgate said that it had set a record for first-day advance ticket sales for The Hunger Games, but, despite prodding from trade journalists, it declined to put a dollar amount on those sales.
