Two and a Half Men may need to find another “half.” Nineteen-year-old Angus T. Jones, who plays Jake on the show, says in a video for the Forerunner Christian Church, “If you watch Two and a Half Men, please stop watching. … I’m on Two and a Half Men and I don’t want to be on it. Please stop watching it and filling your head with filth. People say it’s just entertainment. Do some research on the effects of television and your brain.” Jones, who reportedly earns $350,000 per episode of the CBS comedy, was conspicuously silent during the Charlie Sheen blow-up two years ago. He has admitted that he himself had been on a “downward trend” a few years ago, doing drugs. But since becoming involved with the Church, he said, he has changed his ways and feels that he is now “doing harm” by appearing on the TV series. “I’m not OK with what I’m learning, what the bible says, and being on that television show.” Jones reportedly signed his last one-year contract with the producers of the show last May.

UPDATE: Late Tuesday, Jones issued a statement apologizing for his remarks but not retracting them. He thanked the producers of the show “for the opportunity they have given and continue to give me and the help and guidance I have and expect to continue to receive from them,” and he thanked the cast and crew for “their support, guidance and love over the years.” But he appeared to let stand his previous remarks that the show represents “filth” and that he no longer wishes to be a part of it.
