WINNERS AT SXSW FILM FESTIVAL ANNOUNCED

The South by Southwest Festival (SXSW), which takes place annually in Austin, TX, awarded its top grand jury prize Tuesday night to Destin Daniel Cretton’s Short Term 12, centered around the supervisor of a foster-care home, played by Brie Larson. A special jury prize for acting went to Tishuan Scott, star of the Civil War drama The Retrieval. The prize for ensemble cast went to the actors appearing in Carlos Puga’s Burma. The top prize for documentaries went to Ben Nabors’ William and the Windmill, about a man who built a power-generating windmill, stirring up controversy among his neighbors.
