Pinewood Shepperton Studios, which has successfully lured many of Hollywood’s blockbuster productions to its massive studio facilities in Britain, announced today (Monday) that it plans to expand onto U.S. soil by forming a partnership with River’s Rock, an independently managed trust, to develop a site south of Atlanta for the production of film, TV, music and video games. Dubbed Pinewood Atlanta, the initial development will cover 288 acres. Construction, the company said, is expected to commence immediately. Pinewood CEO Ivan Dunleavy said in a statement, “This new studio will target U.S. productions. Georgia has excellent fiscal incentives and a great crew base. With River’s Rock we have a well-resourced partner that is committed to building a first class studio facility.” Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
