NY POST CRITIC PRAISES 3D OZ

New York Post film critic Lou Lumenick boasted on Sunday that he was able to get a “first look” of the 3D IMAX version of The Wizard of Oz and assured readers who had expressed concerns about Warner Bros.’ fiddling with the classic that they can relax. “For me, the stereoscopic Oz moderately enhances the enjoyment of a film that was already about as entertaining as they come,” he wrote. “It looks fantastic, sounds great, and the 3D effects (reportedly labored over for 16 months by a thousand technicians) are both subtle and respectfully applied.” The film is scheduled to open for a one-week run beginning on Friday. A 3D Blu-ray release is due to hit retail outlets on Oct. 1. For purists, Lumenick observes, that release even includes the 2D version of the movie.
